Welcome to Peach Bayou Photography by Christopher and Kelly Watson
Our Journey...
In December of 2009, we took a trip to Hawaii. During one of our Hawaiian adventures, we saw a married couple carrying cameras that I usually describe as "fancy". Our point-and-shoot suddenly felt out of date and inferior. When we got back from Hawaii, we had some good shots - nice lighting, interesting composition, both of us looking awesome (jk) - but the pictures were lacking the crisp colors and variety in depth of field that we saw in professional photography. We knew that higher quality pictures would require a higher quality camera... and that's all we knew. We treated ourselves to a "fancy" camera as our Christmas present and had no idea how to use it. We spent the first year(-ish) in full-on auto mode. Then, we decided to take a class offered by Leisure Learning in Houston and began to realize just how much fun this could be and how much we could do with our camera. That class gave us just enough knowledge to be able to learn and grow as photographers on our own.
Since then, we have grown together as photographers. We have woken up on Saturday mornings to take sunrise photography at times when, in college, either of us might just be getting home. We have used our enthusiasm and love for photography to capture the joy of a high school student who is finally able to proclaim they are a Senior, the love of a new mother holding her baby, the beauty of snow-capped mountains in Alaska, and the chaos of the busy streets in downtown Houston in the evening.
One of the most exciting things about our photography is that we have completely different styles. Chris loves big picture photography - sweeping landscapes, head-to-toe photos, large depth of field. Kelly loves the details - bright colors, lots of light, shallow depth of field. Our differences make for an interesting portfolio.
We can hardly wait to capture new memories...
